EDWARDIAN SILK SATIN SUMMER EVENING DRESS, 1910 - 1920
Presenting a light weight silk satin summer dress with stunning handwork passementerie trim, dating from 1910 to 1920. The passementerie has hand done stitches with tiny French knots and fabric covered beads. One piece in construction. With a small scooped neck, wired with stays collar and long fitted silver metallic net sleeves with shoulder caps. Adorned metallic net tulle lace front , accented with tiny metal buttons. A bolero jacket style front decorated with handmade passementerie and with 2 large ornate buttons. A pleated white satin ribbon band at front waist only.
The bodice front has an extensive hook and eye closures. White cotton lining in bodice, no lining in skirt.

PROVENANCE

Deaccession from the Strong Museum at Rochester, N.Y and still retaining its identification catalog number sewn in tag.

CONDITION:
In very good antique condition. There is NO underarm discoloration. Small hole front shoulder. Small rips shredding to inner lining on metallic net lace lining. Large tear at inner hem lining. Sturdy and strong and wearable.
