Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue and White Porcelain Meiping Plum Jar. The porcelain potted into a traditional Meiping form, large, thick and tall potted, wide body on shoulder, slender neck easing to form narrow opening, flaring ring mouth rim, raised on round foot base slight concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in white base color which contrast against blue color, depicted of elder seating beside crane bellow dense tree, rocky and auspicious pattern. A characteristic heaped and piled effect, the under glaze greyish-blue concentrates in certain areas, bubbling through the surface of the glaze and turning a deep blue-black. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design.The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark greyish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim.
