[Marquis de la Fayette] Marie-Joseph Paul Yves Roch Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de La Fayette (1757-1834) Marquis De La Fayette was a key player in helping the United States win independence from the United Kingdom. ALS written on Paris National Guard stationary in 1830 to the Lieutenant General François-Antoine-Christophe Gerard. The letter states "you will be receiving the report on the Vincennes mission. You will see what needs to be done regarding it. Lafayette" Even without the lack of date associated with 1830, letter was in relation to the July Revolution of 1830 due to the mention of Vicennes, France. There are fold marks diving the leaf. The address of the Lieutenant is written on the back. Marks and remnants of the red wax used to seal the letter can be seen. Top left of the letter has a previous collectors note. CoA included. Size: Unfolded 16" x 6". Folded: 8" x 6"..Contemporary smearing to bottom line of handwriting including signature. Some foxing and chipping seen.
