1864 Political Campaign Broadside "THE PLATFORMS" Republicans in Baltimore and the Democrats met in Chicago
1864 LINCOLN & JOHNSON versus McCLELLAN & PENDLETON, Political Presidential Campaign Broadside titled, "THE PLATFORMS", Choice Extremely Fine.
This printed Broaside measures about 9.5" x 11.25" and is printed in typeset black ink on light cream-colored wove period paper. The overall condition is excellent, with a thin band of toning along the right edge and with a small, 1/4" split on the right end of the central, horizontal fold. On June 7, 1864, the Republicans met in Baltimore and proposed the platform recorded here. The Democrats met in Chicago on August 29th; their slightly shorter platform is recorded in the right column. "Points of Difference" are delineated below. The preference for the Baltimore Platform and the Lincoln candidacy is not immediately apparent, but becomes clearer as the readers makes his way to the final paragraph. This Broadside was made available to all News Agents at the price of $1 per 100 copies. Quite rare, and in excellent quality.
