Ca. 3rd Millennium BC. A Holy Land jug set on a low ring foot with a squat, globular body and a long vertical handle that begins at the widest part of the body and ends on the wide neck just below the everted rim. This is a very common thick-walled jug-form used to store oils. During this period pottery finishing techniques improved: potters used a remarkable amount of red slip, applied by hand, and smoothed with an irregular burnish.Size: L:104mm / W:110mm ; 205gProvenance: Ancient Art Gallery in London, Ex High Wycombe Estate Collection acquiredd in 1990's
