Description
Ancient Near East, Holy Land, Canaanite Bronze Age, ca. 1900 BCE. A fine example of a coil-made, tall pottery jug with a trefoil spout, a strap handle, and an amphora-like body. Fine red bands are around the body, with a feather-like motif around the neck and a series of wavy lines around the lower body. This is a classic example of Holy Land pottery from this time period, with an acorn-shaped base, so it could be placed in the sand as they did not have hard floor surfaces. Size: 4.5" W x 9.1" H (11.4 cm x 23.1 cm)
