Battle of Waterloo: Letters Signed and Free Franks by the Commanders Who Defeated Napoleon; Duke of Wellington, Gebhard Blücher + 5 More. The Battle of Waterloo in 1815 was fought in what is now Belgium which marked the end of the Napoleonic Wars. The French Army under command of Napoleon was defeated by two of the armies of the Seventh Coalition: A British-led coalition under the command of Arthur Wellesley, the Duke of Wellington and a larger army under the command of Field Marshal Gebhard von Blücher.

1.) Arthur Wellesley, Duke of Wellington, 4pp Letter, dated Oct. 4, 1811 signed to Sir Charles Stuart, unofficial minister/spy for England to the court of Portugal between 1809-1815 and later Ambassador to France and Russia regarding the procedures when a British soldier is accused of an offense in Portugal. Further Wellington outlines the conditions and issue of Court Martial. Letter is signed Wellington, in excellent condition and has compelling content.

2.) Field Marshal Gebhard von Blücher signed daily ration receipt dated "Breslau March 31th 1812 3¼ Metzen of oats, 3lb hay, 4lb straw. Receipt for supplies handed over to His Excellency the General of the Cavalry, Blucher from the local magazine and signed G. Blucher General of Cavalry" Lot also includes engraving of both Wellington and Blücher.

3.) Five signed free franks; Edward Paget, Commander Heavy Cavalry, Fitzroy Somerset Aide de Camp to Wellington, Charles Colville, Commander 3rd Infantry Division at Waterloo, Henry Paget, Earl of Uxbridge Commander All British Cavalry and Robert Edward Somerset, Commander Household Cavalry at Waterloo.
