Description
A Maya lidded tripod vessel in white clay with black designs. The rim flares slightly outward, while the legs are rectangular-shaped. A twisted rope design joins the oval-shaped design elements that comprise animal and curvilinear motifs in black. Ceramic, black and white pigment. 600 CE to 900 CE. Guatemala. 8" x 6".Condition: Good, with some paint loss overall and a missing finial. Provenance: From the Boeckman Collection. Dallas, Texas. On loan to the Dallas Museum of Art from 1992 to 1994.
