Two Ceremonial Bowls, Santa Catalina Island, Solomon Islands, First Half 20th C. Shark spirit motifs dominate the figuration on these well preserved bowls. The scrolling and the well articulated, inlaid surfaces indicate the style found on Santa Catalina and Santa Ana Islands. The scrolling Cf. "Expedition" University of Pennsylvania Museum Bulletin Vol. 10, no. 2, 1968. From the collection of Joseph Salamanca. Size: 1) 17.5'' x 6'' x 4'' (44 x 15 x 10 cm); 2) 18.5'' x 6.5'' x 3.5'' (47 x 17 x 9 cm).
