Estimated age.: First half of the 20th Century.

Historic Origin: D.R.C. Democratic Republic Congo. From the Collection of Gi Mateusen who bought it long time ago in the Tribal Art gallery Totem in Brussels.

Material: Wood, bones, rope, red clay, old mirror and sacrificial material. Delivered on a black Oak wooden base.

Dimensions: Height 16 cm. Width 5 cm. Depth 6 cm.

Central African power figures are among the ubiquitous genres identified with African art. Conceived to house specific mystical forces, they were collaborative creations of Kongo sculptors and ritual specialists. MET Museum.
