Description
Richard Nixon Signed 1st Edition "Leaders"
A superb 1st edition hardcover copy of Richard Nixon's "Leaders" (New York: Warner Books, 1982) signed by the author as "Richard Nixon" in blue ink at the center of the half-title page. The red cloth-covered boards are embossed in silver along the spine under the original dust jacket with a protective sleeve. Not retail clipped. Some minor fading to bottom edges of the book, and a few chipped edges to the dust jacket. The jacket flaps are slightly toned. Else near fine. 371pp. 8vo.
Ex-president Richard Nixon (1913-1994) profiles about twenty of the greatest leaders of the twentieth century--including Winston Churchill and Nikita Khrushchev--in order to better define the essence known as leadership. "What sets them apart? What accounts for that particular, indefinable electricity that exists between the leader and the led?" (p. 1) Richard Nixon was the author of a dozen books published between 1960 and 1994. Select titles include Six Crises (1962), The Real War (1980), No More Vietnams (1985), and Beyond Peace (1994). The ex-president devoted himself to writing, traveling, and speaking engagements in the years following his resignation. Nixon’s repentance about past mistakes, as well as his later political involvement, did much to rehabilitate his tarnished public image.
