Description
Pre-Columbian, Northern Mexico, Chihuahua, Carretas, Casas Grandes, ca. 1060 to 1340 CE. A wonderful pottery bowl displaying a hemispherical body hand-painted with abstract black and maroon decoration atop a vibrant orange ground. The interior of the broad-rimmed vessel features triangular and rectangular designs filled with spiral and interlocking steppe motifs intended to represent motion or wind and family or marriage, respectively. Similarly, the exterior boasts a thick, horizontal band of interlocking triangular patterns. Size: 9.5" Diameter x 4.9" H (24.1 cm x 12.4 cm)
