AN INLAID-SILVER VASE
Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th century
Modeled as a flower basket with bamboo-form rim and loop handles, two sides of the body applied with silver strands simulating woven bamboo, the remaining two sides decorated in iro-e takazōgan with a heron standing in a stream with a fish in its beak, and insects and blossoming flowers, the shoulder and foot chiseled with scrolling vines
