Description
Pennsylvania silk on linen sampler, dated 1836, wrought by Matilda Snyder Bloomsburg, Columbia County, 16 3/4'' x 17 1/2''. A family history, photographs, and a Bible accompany this lot. Matilda was the granddaughter of Johannes Schneider who was the sole survivor of the Indian massacre that took place October 8, 1763, near the family farm in Lehigh County.
Condition
Period frame with age cracks. Toning. Sporadic losses mainly to right edge. Sporadic thread loss.
