Description
Eliza Bosworth's English Needlework Sampler, Dated May 8, 1834. Worked in silk threads on linen with a tower and pavement in the center flanked by topiary urns and birds standing atop columns, within a pair of peacocks above sunflowers and topiary urns, beneath three flower baskets centering a pair of dogs, a meandering floral border and verse "On Youth" flanked by tall flowers in baskets, stitched at the bottom "Eliza Bosworth/ Her Work 32/2 (?)/ May the 8, 1834," within pineapples in urns, baskets of fruit, flower stems and birds, all within a meandering flower stem border; housed in a tiger maple frame. Frame: H: 20.125 in., W: 16 in., D: 1.125 in. Provenance: The Dingman Collection, Hampton, New Hampshire.
