Description

Catherine Esbenshade, Lancaster County, PA, 1822, silk on linen. Large sampler, with a central verse, surrounded by an eagle and flowers, and with the family record below. In a period frame, 29" high, 27" wide. Catherine Esbenshade (1798-1865) was born Paradise Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania to Johann Daniel (1765-1856) and Elizabeth LeFever (1770-1857). Catherine was the second eldest of the large family. In 1835, she married Henry Schaubach (1813-1885) and the couple had two children, remaining in Lancaster County. Ex Philip Bradley (Pennsylvania).

Condition
