Description
Two Girlhood Silk on Linen Needlework Samplers, Second Quarter 19th Century. The smaller needlework wrought by 'Mary Sumner', dated '1845', 'Aged 13 Years', with five rows of alphabets above a house decorated amongst trees, flowers, birds and crowns. The larger needlework wrought by 'E. Charlton', dated 'April 6th, 1842', decorated with alphabets, numbers and three rows of religious text above two large floral urns, within a vine and berry border.
Dimensions: Framed dimensions 14 x 14in and 16 x 20in.
Provenance: Property from a New Jersey Collection.
Condition
Discoloration, minor wear and losses are evident through the glass, not examined out of the frames.
