Description
A Girlhood Silk on Linen Needlework Pictorial House Sampler, wrought by Francis Bristow. Having two rows of an upper case and lower case alphabet and numbers above five short verses and a central medallion below inscribed 'Frances Bristow / Finished this sampler / Jany th 16 / 1817", amongst animals, trees and flowers, with a house at the lower left corner. The text at the upper section reads, "Lord how delightful it is to see / A whole assembly worship thee / At once they sing they / pray they hear of heaven / And learn the way".Â
Dimensions:Â Sight 14 1/2 x 12 3/4in; frame is 15 1/2Â x 13 1/2in.Â
Condition
Framed and glazed. Not examined out of the frame. Toned, some stains are evident through the glass. Losses evident to the lower left and right corners.
