1) Humboldt Smelting and Reduction Co. Rare! Most notable is the unique underprint vignette, showing an early ore smelter. Golconda, Nevada. # 45 for 7500 shares to G. Haldorn. Signed by president E. L. Labadie and secretary-treasurer G. Haldorn. Issued in 1904. Very nice condition! Labadie was one of the most adamant Golconda mining men and supporters! He opened an association with Europe and much of his money came from there. 2) Gold Coin. Stock certificate NUMBER 1, issued to Thomas Major (company president) and Fred Backus for 499,990 shares (all but 10 shares) on June 14th, 1905. Signed by president Thomas Major. Pen cancelled. Multiple mining vignettes. Folds, small tear left border. Major and Backus were receiving all but ten shares of the company's stock. From here they would divide it among themselves, other directors and put some in the treasury to sell to the public. Major was one of the first to locate in the famous Adelaide Mining District outside of Golconda. He was a major player in the Gold Run district. The main shaft was 200 feet and a crosscut is to be run to the ledge. Tom Major was still trying to make the mine a going concern as late as 1921.
