Description
Two Civil War Dated Triunfo Gold & Silver Mining Co. Stock Certificates
Two uncancelled stock certificates, each measuring 9.5" x 5.25", San Francisco, dated January 15 and June 4, 1864. With flattened folds, edge toning, and faint edge wear. Both with bold signatures. Very fine overall.
The first, No. 27, issues five shares of Capital Stock to Blake Moffitt.
The second, No. 86, issues 10 shares of Capital Stock to Henry Friedel.
Both are signed by President Edward P. Flint and Secretary Henry S. Brooks. With a vignette for a scenic mountain vista at the top center. Endorsed by Moffitt and Friedel on verso, transferring the stocks to another party. The two certificates also each have a 25¢ George Washington stamp adhered at the lower right corner.
The Triunfo Gold & Silver Mining Company was opened in 1863 and held several major properties in the El Triunfo-San Antonio gold district south of La Paz in South Baja. It included the Carmen, Santa Fe, Valenceina, Mendocena, and Esperanza. It is estimated that the El Triunfo mining district has likely produced more than 500,000 ounces of gold from discovery to the present.
This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
