Rare ghost town certificate that we have never offered! Inc. in Colorado. "Mines located in Ten Mile Consolidated Mining District, Summit Co. Col." (printed at upper right). "Principal Offices in Summit County, Col. & Cook County Illinois" (printed at upper left). No. 182, issued for 100 shares to John H. Berry on Feb. 12th, 1881. Signed by president DE (illegible) and secretary Jas. S. Grubbs. Not cancelled. Maroon border and text, yellow underprint, and vignette of eagle on shield. Printed by JMW Jones, Chicago. Dog ear corner, hole in seal, light wear. 4 x 9.5" According to the Leadville Weekly Democrat (March 20, 1880), the company hired JJ Hill as superintendent to work their properties on the Maid of the Mist Lode on Tucker Mountain. Claims included Maid of the Mist, Harlequin, Columbian and Dubuque. Kokomo is a ghost town located at 10,618 ft. in Summit County. Placer gold was found in the 1860s, but the mining boom didn't happen for Kokomo until Leadville developed in 1877.
