Item Details
Description
1) McCulloch's Bonnie Briar Gold Mining and Development Stock: Located at the Bonnie Briar Mining Camp [x=#241/] oft forgotten Nevada Ghost town. #43 issued to HO Farris on June 27, 1910 for 1600 share. Signed by president James Levin McCulloch president and Ade McCulloch secretary. Incorporated in November of 1907. Three mining vignettes. Green and black on off white. Nice with a few minor nicks and spots. McCulloch was described as an old Comstock man. He gave the world its first description of the Bonnie Briar Mining District (included). The company owned 48 claims at Bonnie Briar. The longest tunnel on the property is in 700 ft. and the deepest shaft is down 230 ft. 2) Gold Box Mining Company - with 11 nice 1937 photographs. # 33 for 2,000 shares to Walter Fitzgerald. Signed by secretary Arnold Helin and president Grunal(?). Dateline September 27, 1937. Underground mining vignette. No color, edge or corner issues. This was a producing mine in 1938 and 1939. Includes a page of research on the mine. Also items from Walter Fitzgerald collection. He was a foreman on the mine. Includes 11 photographs of the mine building and workers (some are identified), letters, billheads, wage receipts, etc. 3) Nevada Golden Eagle Mining Company; Rare 'New Central Mining District'. The district's most important mine and mill. #A12 for 2000 shares to W, J, Byrth on March 19, 1907. "Principal Office: Golden Eagle Mine, Winnemucca, Humboldt County, Nevada." Signed by John K. Lathrop secretary and A. Richardson president. Some discoloration and folds. Very nice. The Nevada Golden Eagle was a re-incorporation of the Nevada Eagle. From 1903 to 1906 it was the main attraction of the New Central Mining District. The New Central district was originally called the Central district and later the Mill City district. Poor management doomed the first company; perhaps the second also as it is only mention in newspapers in the year it was incorporated.
