Ca. 400-200 BC A rare black glazed lebes gamikos - "marriage vase" with an inverted bell-shaped body and its characteristic pair of horizontal strap handles set on either shoulder. The mouth with a raised rim. The vessel sits on a low, circular foot. Without lid, glaze at two areas rubbed off, and a little splinter of the foot is missing.Size: L:170mm / W:177mm ; 630gProvenance: Property of a London Art gallery; from a Rhenish private collection, acquired in the 1960s to 1990s.
