Description
A large carved wood and painted helmet with exaggerated facial features and wonderful dramatic style of a Kwag Hir festival mask. The Tiv began the Kwag-hir ceremony to address many of the traditional beliefs that had been diluted during the period of British rule. The festival originally began only with marionettes. It later grew to incorporate masks, and eventually, colossal body masks and helmets like this one. Mask measures 13 x 15 inches. ( a display stand can also be included for an additional $50.00.
