Mary and George Bloch 伉儷為赫赫有名的收藏家夫婦。George Bloch（1920－2009）出生於維也納工業世家，曾負笈英倫。1938年移居上海並創立公司，專營生產及分銷玩具、鐘錶、家具及電子零件。George 原已熱愛收藏，1969年與 Mary 共結連理後更拓展視野與興趣，倆人攜手蒐集各式珍品，收藏範圍涵蓋日本牙雕漆作、中國陶瓷及工藝品、西方現代畫與雕塑等。賢伉儷走遍世界各地，造訪博物館、參與拍賣會，Mary 也因而獲邀加入威尼斯 Peggy Guggenheim Advisory Board 顧問委員會。
八十年代初期，伉儷開始專注袖珍藝術鼻煙壺的收藏。多年來在顧問 Robert Kleiner、Robert Hall 及 Hugh Moss 的輔佐下，收藏日豐。其藏品出版無數，如《盈寸纖研－瑪麗及佐治伯樂鼻煙壺珍藏》、《A Treasury of Chinese Snuff Bottles: The Mary and George Bloch Collection》等專書。曾於各大博物館及藝廊如香港藝術館、倫敦大英博物館、新加坡國家博物院、耶路撒冷以色列博物館、香港大學美術博物館、北京故宮博物院、蒙特利馬 Musée de la Miniature 等地巡迴列展，奠定其鼻煙壺藝術領域的重要地位。本次編號103－105皆為 Mary and George Bloch 伉儷收藏之精巧玲瓏的掌中珍玩，散發令人眩目的迷人魅力。
白玉質，質地細潤潔白，寶光瑩瑩。壺直口，溜肩，扁垂腹，平底略凹。壺腹兩面紋飾相同，淺浮雕對稱夔龍及如意雲紋，兩兩相對，中有寶珠，間滿布壓地隱起雲雷紋作襯托，形成古樸神秘富有裝飾性紋樣，充盈摹古風範。
乾隆時期格外注重仿古，以追求「返樸還淳」、「形制古雅」為樂趣。這種仿古的崇尚在琢玉工藝中亦極盛行，為十八世紀清宮藝術的主旋律之一。然在製作過程中，會受限於玉材的形狀與大小而出現權宜性的增減、更改，因而進一步帶動創新。細觀本件鼻煙壺，造形小巧，盈手可握，構圖係源自春秋、戰國時期玉器上常見的紋樣，今河南省文物研究所庋藏春秋晚期〈玉雙龍首璜〉，內琢致密隱起雲雷紋，可作為仿古紋飾參考比對。
本品整體雕工精湛，技藝嫻熟，裝飾效果極佳，構圖密而不亂，在紋飾風格意蘊上仿古外，略有增減變化，著重仿其神韻，氣質古樸，典雅端莊，又融合白玉凝光含蓄之特質，盡顯雍容，實為仿古鼻煙壺中的代表佳作。誦先芬室主人庋藏1770－1820〈白玉龍紋鼻煙壺〉，其紋飾與本品甚為相似，為類似作品之參考。另拍場相似之例可參見拍賣於紐約佳士得2011年9月15-16日，編號1177，清〈白玉雕雙龍供壽紋鼻煙壺〉，與本件鼻煙壺皆以龍紋為裝飾，顯露當時對龍文化的崇敬與珍愛。
