Item Details
Description
**Originally Listed At $250**

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 2nd century CE. A dainty free-blown glass flask with aubergine hues. This vessel sits on a slightly rounded base that extends into a teardrop shaped body that narrows into a tubular neck with a small flared lip. Areas of purple iridescence on the exterior enhance its beauty. The unique translucence of glassware captivated ancient cultures and this is a beautiful piece of Roman craftsmanship. Size: 1.5" W x 3.25" H (3.8 cm x 8.3 cm)

Provenance: East Coast collection, New York Gallery, New York City, New York, USA, acquired before 2010

Condition
Fissures on body to neck, repairs to lip and neck. Pontil mark on underside of base. Surface wear and abrasions commensurate with age. Hairline striations visible on the neck from molding processes. Earthen encrustations and areas of purple iridescence.
