Description
Pristine “from life” carte-de-visite (CDV) photograph of General William Rosecrans. Rosecrans developed a strong reputation as a Commander until the Battle of Chichamauga, where an mis-worded order mistakenly opened a costly gap in the Union line. Reassigned to Missouri after the defeat, Rosecrans rehabilitated his image with a series of tactical victories. After the war, he achieved success in the railroad industry and as a politician. This particular photograph of Rosecrans in his Civil War uniform was produced by TM Schleier of Nashville Tennessee.
