The porcelain potted into a traditional Meiping form, large, thick and tall potted, wide body on shoulder, slender neck easing to form narrow opening, with emerging slight flaring ring mouth rim, raised on round foot base, with slight concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white color which contrast against blue fine color, depicted of flying phoenix through lotus flowers blooms interspersed foliage and scrolling interlocking tendril. The Chinese phoenix is considered the representative of all feathered creatures. The phoenix is such an important bird in Chinese symbolism that we have a separate section dedicated to it, it is put in the same section as dragons as the phoenix and dragon are paired, the dragon represents the Emperor and yang, the phoenix the Empress and yin. In China it was a god of the winds.
