Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue and White Phoenix Porcelain Jar. Potted with a cylindrical straight vessel, short neck, flaring round mouth lip, raised on ring foot base slight concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white base color which contrast against blue fine color, depicted of flying phoenix through flowers bloom, foliage and interlocking tendril. The Phoenix Feng-Huang represents exquisiteness, goodness, warmth, prosperity, peace, the Sun, abundant harvests, and reason in government. The Chinese phoenix is considered the representative of all feathered creatures. The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark greyish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim.
