Description
"WWII Home Front." A collection of original WWII-era mimeograph printed bulletins by the War Council Consumer Division, Rochester, Monroe County, NY. [undated, c.1942-1944]. The bulletins contain information on food preservation, war-time recipes and more. Rationing in World War II meant that recipes had to make the most of the food that was more easily available.

The majority of bulletins are 8.1/2" x 14"; a few bulletins are 8.1/2" x 11"; a little wear, very good condition.

Bulletins by Mrs. Elston F. Holton, Executive Secretary, War Council:

Rhubarb: canning, freezing, pasteurization, jams and conserves recipes; recipes for fresh rhubarb

Sandwiches recipes including bread recipes [graham date loaf; banana bread; orange nut bread; prune bread; wheat and soy bread ++]

Cookie recipes: 'for School', "Cookies That Go to War"; "Cookies that Stay at Home for Parties."
