Antique "Petersburg" [Petersburg, Virginia], original hand-colored wood engraving from the "Harper's History of Great Rebellion" (1866) framed in wooden glass frame. The engraving shows the view on the downtown Petersburg from the Confederate camp on the northern bank of the Appomattox River, the rear of the Confederates. [The military defense lines and the siege by the Union Army were south of the river around the city, not visible on this picture].

The engraving is attached to the card board. The picture is c. 8.1/4" x 5.3/4" [21cm x 14.6cm]; the frame is 12" x 10.1/4" [30.5cm x 25cm]; vintage glass frame silver plating with some gilding; black velvet on the back. The frame has both, hanger and easel. Some surface wear, very good condition.
