Virginia MD. Early Nevada territorial stock certificate. Not even Mary B. Ansari in her work on "Mines and Mills of the Comstock Region" lists this mine. She does list the McClellan Mill as being in Gold Hill. Only an 1862 Bancroft map gives us record of this mill. Probably named for McClellan Peak (which is one mountain over from Sun Mountain). Named for General McClellan? This is number 134 for 8 shares to E. W. Leonard in 1863. Leonard was a vice president of the Society of California Pioneers in 1863. He was also the president of the Florida Mining Company in American Flat. This mine was a pioneer in the south part to the flat. It was originally known as the Pony Express Mine.
