Description
**First Time At Auction**

Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate Period, 21st to 25th Dynasty, ca. 1077 to 664 BCE. A mold-formed faience amulet covered in deep blue glaze depicting a quartet of projective ocular symbols known as wadjet (also wedjat or Eyes of Horus). The wadjet eyes are situated on the corners of the amulet, each with its pupil and iris staring out from within heavy lids, and the back of each eye is connected via a zigzagging column. Intersecting the pairs of eyes are 2 papyrus columns with slender, tubular bodies and flared heads that meet in the center of the composition. Size: 1.625" L x 1.4" W (4.1 cm x 3.6 cm)

Provenance: private Toronto, Ontario, Canada collection, by descent, acquired in Egypt in 1894 to 1896

Condition
Small nicks to obverse and peripheries, with a couple of stable hairline fissures visible along verso, light pitting, and light encrustations, otherwise intact and very good. Great preservation to ocular decorations and blue glaze.
