Description
Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate to Late Dynastic Period, 21st to 31st Dynasty, ca. 1070 to 332 BCE. A set of 3 mold-formed faience amulets covered in lustrous glaze. First is a wadjet (also wedjat) eye pendant of classic form with a suspension hole drilled laterally through the eye. Next is a petite pendant of Pataikos, a phylactic dwarf deity who was associated with the creator god Ptah, who stands atop an integral plinth. The largest artifact is a well-defined, double-sided torso of Pataikos with a distended abdomen, attenuated arms and legs, and a perforated suspension loop on the verso. Size of largest (Pataikos torso): 0.9" W x 1" H (2.3 cm x 2.5 cm)

Condition
Loss to head and legs of largest Pataikos amulet as shown; smaller 2 amulets are intact and very good. All 3 amulets have softening to finer details, light fading to glaze pigment, and minor earthen deposits. Nice remains of glaze pigment throughout.
