JECKELN FRIEDRICH: (1895-1946) German SS-Obergruppenfuhrer of World War II, Knight's Cross winner with Oak Leaves. Jeckeln served as a Higher SS and Police Leader in the occupied Soviet Union and was the commander of one of the largest collection of Einsatzgruppen death squads and was personally responsible for ordering and organizing the deaths of over 100,000 Jews, Romani and others designated by the Nazis as 'undesirables'. Jeckeln was convicted by a Soviet military tribunal in Riga and executed in 1946. Fountain pen ink signature ('Jeckeln') on a small 12mo piece, evidently neatly clipped from an official document, with his rank etc. added above and below the signature in another hand. Lightly mounted to the base of an A4 sheet of paper featuring a reproduction image of Jeckeln in a head and shoulders pose wearing his uniform. VG
