Southeast Asia, Thailand, Sawankhalok culture, ca. 15th century CE. A lovely pottery jar presenting a bulbous body, a slender neck, and a flared rim, all sitting upon an applied, ring-form foot. Formed from red terracotta, the elegant dish is enveloped in a cream-hued glaze below a green-colored decorative program of 2 registers: the top displaying 3 fish and the bottom showing an arched pattern. A pair of horizontal bands adorns the top and bottom of the vessel, as well as separates the 2 registers. Size: 5" in diameter x 4.625" H (12.7 cm x 11.7 cm)
Provenance: ex-Ashland University Museum, Ashland, Ohio, USA, donated to Ashland University between July 1994 to December 1998

Condition
Repair and restoration to shoulder and rim. Otherwise, very nice with light earthen deposits and nice remains of glaze.
