Ancient Central Asia, Indus Valley, Harappan/Mohenjo-Daro civilization, ca. 2700 to 2000 BCE. A hand-built pottery jar of apple-shaped form with a planar base, a rounded shoulder, and a petite everted rim. The yellow-orange ground of the upper body is decorated with a trio of lengthy fish, 2 with scaled patterns and 1 with diagonal stripes, with abstract C-form shapes fill the surrounding areas. Size: 7.9" W x 5.7" H (20.1 cm x 14.5 cm)
Provenance: private Vero Beach, Florida, USA collection, acquired before 2003

Condition
Minor abrasions to surfaces, with touch-up painting to some areas of polychrome decorations, and light earthen deposits, otherwise intact and very good. Great remains of original pigment.
