Description
This group is a wonderful souvenir from the celebration of the centennial of George Washington's presidential inauguration on the steps of Federal Hall ( at the time referred to as the sub treasury) in New York City. This event took place April 30th 1889. This lot features a program from the event chock full of historical tid bits, including biographical information, period advertising, and a history of Washington's presidency. A very nice tribute piece. The event was presided overy by President Benjamin Harrison, and much of the cabinet was in attendance. Along with the program, this lot includes a souvenir photograph mounted to a cardboard backing. On the back of the card is a list of attendees as featured in the photo recorded by someone who was at the event. The program measures approximately 9" x 7" and is in good shape for its age. The binding is in tact, however it is separated from the front and back covers. The inside pages are in nice condition given their age. The souvenir mounted photo measures approximately 6.5" x 8.5" The mounted photo is in very nice shape. The cardstock that it is mounted to has some wear to the corners, but no creases or folds.
