Description
[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. A group of photographs featuring cities, interiors, and landscapes, comprising:  Lot of 100 images, many sizes, styles, ages(1) Boudoir card of a man holding the reins of a pony. Hoover Photo, Oak Harbor, O.   On verso: "Grandfather Lawrence Weatherwax + a pony. Aunt Jane wet the pony's hair & curled it to have its picture taken with grandfather...." Plus information about its provenance.Two images just a bit smaller than cabinet cards (3.75 x 4.75 in. on 5.5 x 6.5 in. mounts). One marked on verso "Mens Club / Joh   Hutchinson." Also with "Finch & Bentley Photographers." The other seems to be two men on horseback in a parade (one horse decorated), sitters and photographers unidentified.  (2) Two cabinet cards showing the damage resulting from a tornado. In one, only the church was left standing; in the other, most of the school house is standing, but one wing is damaged.  (3) Cabinet card, part of Brooklyn Bridge. Verso with statistics (ie. When started, size of various elements, etc.)Stereoview, New York from Brooklyn Bridge, James M. Davis.Stereoview, Pilgrim Hall, Plymouth, MA, A.E. Buildings are decorated with buntings, possibly the end of WWI, since there seems to be a lot of military hardware moving down the road. 3.5 x 4.75 in.(4) Image of a boat full of people and more on the dock, 1 in the water, what appears to be a slide in the background. 3.75 x 4.75 in.Image of a hotel along a lake. On verso: "The Hotel at Lewiston. ???? monument in the distance." 3 x 4 in.Image of what appears to be a waterfall, on verso: "The old dam. Summer 1907." 3.25 in. sq.Image of several buildings in a fenced area. On verso: "Andy Hudson's 4 miles above Jasper staid there three nights good place."Five small images (2.5 x 3.5 in.), four show log buildings, the fifth is a rock with "Cornelia / Isaac Glikhicans Mother. / Exemplary Christian / D. Aug. 20, 1773 / Age - far over 100 Yrs." Small tag indicates this is a "Protestant Mission," but no indication where that mission is located.(5) Framed albumen print of building with note: "This building is now a historical sight in Boston. This building was the meeting hall during U.S. Revolution period."Early Boston photo on black page from album? 4.75 x 6.5 in.Larger format image (5.75 x 7.75 in.) of Philadelphia, ca 1870s(6) Panoramic image 3.75 x 9.5 in. With over a dozen automobiles visible on the beach. These cars are early, ca 19190s-1920s.  Cabinet of an astronomical observatory, Wisconsin.Framed photo 3.75 x 4.5 in.
