Richard Nixon Typed Letter Signed & Signed Copy of "No More Vietnams"

1p, measuring 7.25" x 10.5", New York, dated February 27, 1985. Signed by Nixon in blue ink and addressed to Rex Scouten. Nixon acknowledges the upcoming 10th anniversary of the fall of Saigon and sends Scouten his book, which "presents a different point of view". He writes in part:

"There can be an honest difference of opinion over whether we should have become involved in Vietnam and how the war was conducted. But after witnessing the reign of terror that has been imposed upon the people of Vietnam and Cambodia by the Communist regimes we opposed, fair-minded observers can reach only one conclusion: Whatever our mistakes, the United States tried and failed in a just cause in Vietnam…"

The letter is accompanied by the aforementioned book, "No More Vietnams" by Richard Nixon. An octavo, 240pp. New York: Arbor House, 1985. Signed on the front free endpaper "Richard Nixon". A quarter-bound volume, with dark blue cloth and paper. With the original dustjacket. The letter has flattened mail folds. Minimal toning on the front and uneven toning on verso. Sunning and shelf wear to the cover of the book. Light soiling to the dustjacket. Bold signature and sound binding.
