Description
**First Time At Auction**
Southeast Asia, Thailand, Sawankhalok (Si Satchanalai), ca. 15th century CE. A remarkable stoneware vessel presenting a concave, circular foot, a bulbous body, a curved shoulder, and a narrow neck that curves outwards and then inwards to an annular rim flanked by a pair of loop handles. Glazed in a beautiful hue of celadon, the ancient vessel is carved with vertical striations that stretch down its body, creating a light striped or ribbed design beneath the glaze. Size: 3.75" in diameter x 5.25" H (9.5 cm x 13.3 cm)
Provenance: private southern California, USA collection, acquired before 2000

Condition
Two collection numbers inscribed on base. Miniscule abrasion to rim. A few minor nicks near base, commensurate with age. Otherwise, intact and excellent with lovely earthen deposits and beautiful craquelure.
