Description
**Originally Listed At $450**

Eastern Europe, Russia, ca. 1908 CE. A traveling icon with a hallmarked silver oklad (also oclad or riza) depicting Saint Nicholas of Myra, the Wonderworker, the most revered figure in Eastern Orthodox Christianity. A faithful shepard and Bishop, Nicholas was bestowed the title of Saint even before his death due to his immense holiness and watchful care of his faithful flock. Nicholas holds a holy Gospel in his left hand while his right is giving a blessing. He also dons an intricate crown with a halo behind. His white bearded face is finely painted with piercing eyes that stare towards the viewer through the otherwise static confines of space and time. A timeless example of one of the most cherished individuals in the Church Slavonic. Lucite stand for photographic purposes only. Silver quality: 88%. Size: 3.625" L x 2.875" W (9.2 cm x 7.3 cm)

Lucite stand in photo not included.
