Description
**First Time At Auction**

Near East, Holy Land, ca. 1st millennium BCE. A fabulous ensemble of five pottery vessels from the ancient Holy Land. The largest presents with an annular, concave foot, a cylindrical body that spreads outwards to a broad, rounded shoulder, a narrow neck, and a flared rim. A raised horizontal band decorates the neck and is connected to the shoulder via an arched, ribbon-form handle. Supported by a circular foot, the second pottery jar displays a globular body, a slender neck, and a flared rim connected to the shoulder by a thin handle. The third vessel is an amphora and exhibits a petite, pointed base, a voluminous body, an attenuated neck, a circular rim, and a thick handle, all enveloped in a vibrant hue of orange-red. The fourth displays a small base and impressively thin walls that gradually spread outwards and upwards to a wide, slanted shoulder, a corseted neck, and a tiered rim flanked by two loop handles. Size: 7.25" W x 10.75" H (18.4 cm x 27.3 cm)

Shortest of the five, the last vessel, shows a concave, annular base, a slanted shoulder with an arched handle, a narrow, tiered neck, and a lipped rim.

Provenance: ex-Phoenicia Holyland Antiquities, New York City, New York, USA, acquired before 2010
