Description
Ancient Near East, Holy Land, Canaanite, Bronze Age to Iron Age, ca. 1st millennium BCE. A collection of ancient pottery vessels, 4 petite bowls and a small jar. One bowl is phiale shaped with a rounded base and a flared rim, possibly used for libations. The rest may have been serving food - or, in the case of the 2 smallest dishes, condiments such as salt. Size of largest bowl: 5" W x 1.5" H (12.7 cm x 3.8 cm)

Provenance: private Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA collection; ex-Minerva Gallery; ex-Benjamin Vega, California, USA, acquired in 2006 to 2007; ex-Gene and Virginia George, brought to the USA from 1961 to 1966
