Jedidiah Morse (1761-1826) was born in Connecticut and graduated from Yale College in 1783. While teaching, Morse wrote the first edition of Geography Made Easy in 1784. It was very successful and ran in many editions. Historian George White claimed this was the first school geography published in the United States. This copy is notable for including all 8 listed maps.

Wear to joints & spine, vertical split and flaking at ends of spine with loss; front hinge cracked at dedication page, heavy age-toning to pages, occasional soiling throughout; very good.
