Description
A long and very fine double sided beaded sheath for a ritual staff, a long hollow tube like sheath that would hold a long iron staff. This rare and exquisite example features many ancestor style faces and a few reptile motifs. The sheath originates from the Ekiti peoples, among the Yoruba, Nigeria. Provenance: Field collected by Louise Clark, a Peace Corp worker in Nigeria in 1965. The sheath Measures 54.5 inches long x 4.25 inches wide.
