RIAA Platinum LP award for Van Halen album Women And Children First, which was released in the U.S. on March 26, 1980. The album was certified Platinum by the RIAA on June 2, 1980 for 1 million copies sold. 

The album, the group's third (and first containing only their own material), generated popular VH hits "And The Cradle Will Rock...", which crept up to #55 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and "Everybody Wants Some!!". The album peaked at #6 on the Billboard Pop Albums chart and by 1994 had gone to 3x Platinum

Detailed Item Description: This is a first presentation RIAA Platinum award that would have been manufactured in 1980. That makes this award 40 years old. The "floater" style award was only produced from 1975-81. The award is presented to Todd Dunn. It is not known what role Dunn played in the creation or promotion of the record.

This award has the original backing paper and New York Frame & Picture Co. manufacturer sticker present. It appears to be in VG condition with only a couple of very minor scratches on the frame and plexiglass and minor fading of the matte and disc. 

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, record retailers, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home.
