RIAA Platinum album award for Molly Hatchet album Flirtin' With Disaster. Released on Sept. 1, 1979, the album was certified Platinum by the RIAA on Feb. 22, 1980 for one million copies sold. Remember original Molly Hatchet members Danny Joe Brown, Bruce Crump, Dave Hlubek, Steve Holland, Duane Roland, and Banner Thomas, who played on this album and all of whom have passed away.

Featuring the classic title track, which peaked at #42 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, along with "Whiskey Man", this became the group's most successful album. It rose to #19 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and paved the way for the group to tour with many top rock acts, from AC/DC and Aerosmith to Journey, Def Leppard and more. By 1986 the album was certified 2x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA.

Detailed Item Description: This is a first presentation RIAA Platinum album award from 1980. That makes it approx. 42 years old. It is presented to Tom Werman, who produced this album, along with others from REO Speedwagon, Ted Nugent, Motley Crue, Cheap Trick, Twisted Sister, Poison, Jeff Beck, Poison and more.

It is VG condition with typical frame wear and a faded matte. The award's backing paper is original and complete with Creative Glassics manufacturer sticker.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home.
