RIAA Platinum LP award for the Elvis Presley's Golden Records (sometimes referred to as Golden Records Vol. I). This album was released on March 1, 1958. While going Gold by October 1961, the release interestingly was not certified Platinum by the RIAA until May 20, 1988 for one million copies sold. This is likely because the label had not filed the paperwork with the RIAA until that time.

The album is notable in that it contained all the classic early Elvis hits including "Hound Dog", "Heartbreak Hotel", "Jailhouse Rock", "Don't Be Cruel", "Love Me Tender" and many more. It hit #3 on the U.S. Billboard Top LPs chart. By 1999 the album had been certified 6x Multi-Platinum.

Detailed Item Description: This is a first presentation RIAA Platinum award that would have been manufactured sometime between in 1990 and 1992 based on its certification dates. That makes this award approx. 30 years old.

This award is in VG to Excellent condition, with only a very minor mar or two on the frame. It is presented to RCA Records. This award has its original back with California Gold Record Co. manufactuer's sticker.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.
