Description
Extremely rare Hummel, Old Woman Walking to Market. One of 4 pieces molded by A. Moeller in 1948 and made as samples. Convent did not approve this piece although it is a replica of sister Hummel's early drawings. Has M I Hummel signature. CN, closed number 2/18/48 and will never be made again. One of 4 "mamas and papas". Hummel measures approx. 6 3/4" tall, TMK-0, Hum 190. No cracks, chips, crazing or repairs. No box. See our other auction lots for more rare large and small M.I. Provenance: From the estate collection of Donald Deeks (1931-2020) of Venice, Florida, who assembled what is purported to be one of the most important collections of rare Hummel figurines in existence. Blackwell Auctions has been commissioned by his family to sell the entire collection of about 2,000 pieces, many of them either unique or nearly so.
